Love Durham Bike Co-op? Support us on #GivingTuesday

On Tuesday, November 30, many will come together for a special 24-hour online day of giving called #GivingTuesday and we need YOUR HELP! Please help Durham Bike Co-op continue our mission to expand access to bikes and spread the joy of bicycling in the Durham community.

What we've been up to this year

So far in 2021, Durham Bike Co-op has restored and distributed nearly 300 bikes to youth and adults in Durham. We've given away 250+ pieces of bike safety equipment, including helmets, reflective vests, lights and locks. Our volunteers racked up nearly 4,000 hours of work supporting our mission to expand bike access and empowerment equitably across the Durham community. Our outreach team partnered with ~15 local groups to distribute bikes and safety equipment to communities in need across Durham. And we launched the Durham TWIG Community for people of marginalized genders (request to join the listserv here).

Every little bit helps

Your donation on #GivingTuesday helps us continue all this work moving into 2022. Please support the vital services Durham Bike Co-op provides by donating online on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. We're looking for monthly sustainers and one-time contributors to help us meet our year-end goal.

And thank you so much for supporting Durham Bike Co-op as a member, volunteer, donor, or other contributor. We appreciate you!

Make a one-time or monthly contribution today.

Support our fall fundraiser & become a monthly sustainer

Wondering how you can support Durham Bike Co-op? Donate to our fall fundraiser!

Becoming a monthly donor is the best way you can help sustain our work of empowering more people in the Durham community through bicycles and hands-on repair skills. Donations provide support for our bike shop operations as well as community outreach, and they help our all-volunteer crew sustain this work.

As an all-volunteer-run nonprofit, Durham Bike Co-op relies on donations (financial, as well as bikes, bike parts and supplies) to continue to serve our mission. In 2020-2021, we've pivoted our operations to continue providing our core services safely under COVID-19 conditions, including:
  • Bicycle repair and redistribution
  • Hands-on mechanical skills training
  • Recycling and reuse of bicycles and bike parts
  • Community outreach in partnership with numerous Durham nonprofit and government agencies
  • Virtual events to celebrate bicycling and make the bike community more inclusive
  • And more

We're looking for monthly sustainers to help us continue our work and support the co-op's ongoing operations--that includes everything from electricity bills to grounds-keeping to purchasing bicycle parts and safety equipment.

Whether you choose to become a monthly sustainer or make a one-time donation, please know that your contribution helps us continue to serve our mission and spread the joy and empowerment of bicycling to more people in Durham.

Thank you!
