The Durham Bicycle Cooperative is encouraging the designation of the DBC as shoppers' chosen nonprofit to receive contributions from Amazon's charitable program.
"This is a super easy way that our members and supporters can help," said DBC founding member Alison Carpenter.
As part of the program, every time a participant makes an eligible purchase from the online retailer, Amazon will make a donation to the designated charitable organization equal to one half percent (0.5%) of the purchase. Although this may not sound like much, thedailybeast.com estimated that it could add up to over $400 million annually.
To take part in the program, participants may go to smile.amazon.com and begin shopping. First time users of amazon.com will need to create an account. Returning amazon.com users can use their regular Amazon login credentials.
